The Grand Narrative

Wedding Hall Dancing Girls

Posted in Living in Korea, Sexism and Sexuality in Korea by James Turnbull on November 6th, 2007

Speaking of weddings, I just saw this video of a Korean wedding with dancing girls at Mongdori. I just love what they wrote about it: ”Because you should be enjoying every last minute until you have to say “I do”.

By the way, they’re dancing to the song 오빠/Oppa by 왁스/Wax. You see? I told you that learning it was an essential for getting by in Korea. If you don’t know it yet, study the definitive English guide to the song for decades to come™ at my post  Oppa-Wax: Lyrics, Translation, and Explanation (오빠-왁스: 가사, 번역, & 설명) quick smart.

(Update: It works for me, but one person at least has had problems with the link to the video, so I’ve linked to the Mongdori site too (just scroll down a little to find the video). Hope that helps, and thanks for pointing it out)

(Update2: To compensate for the bad link, I’ve just found this hilarious cartoon at Spunangel that I haven’t been able to stop laughing at, even for the past hour while I was jogging along Gwanganli Beach. I think it sums up the (extremely) mixed messages about women that I put on the blog all too well)

Thanks, but it’s working for me, so I don’t know what I can do about it sorry.

It’s the second newest post at the Mongdori site at the moment though, so now I’ve linked to that too for people to click on. Does that work? Anyone else having problems with either?
