Lee Hyori does a fun carwash dance commercial.

[E-Daily SPN Kim Un-Gu Repoter] Sexy Star Lee Hyori does her first carwash dance.

This advertisement is the first in a series that Lee Hyori has agree to produce for Vidal Sassoon, and fans are sure to like it.

In this advertisement, primarily produced for viewing on the web, Lee Hyori first drives around in a cool convertible, then playfully runs away from her viewers, and finally finishes with a cheerful car wash that she turns into a refreshing event.

This advertisement video will be available on the Vidal Sasoon homepage from the 13th of this month.

Inspiring stuff. As always, for those of you who haven’t been put off by a blog about Korea actually having Korean in it (oh, the shame!), here are some screen shots of the commercial, then a not great quality youtube video of the commercial but which also has an interview with Lee Hyori with English subtitles, and then finally a good quality video of the commerical itself.

lee-hyori-screenshots.jpg

Purely for my reader’s sake of course, for the past few days I’ve been trying to find better quality videos which didn’t seem to require installation of things like Active X and other goodies to play, which should be avoided, but then I just happened to glance at the Korean portal site www.naver.com again and discovered that all the videos that did need it originally no longer do! So, click here without further ado, and if that doesn’t whet your appetite (no pun intended) there’s a lot more videos here (which I haven’t checked, but jeez, I think I’ve done enough!).

(Update Wednesday 22nd: The site with the video seems to go down often. Sorry. If it is, go here instead)

Yes, you can be forgiven for forgetting that the ad is technically for shampoo. Do matter how much I like the ad, it’s got to be said: is this really what persuades women to go out and buy the stuff?? Yes, saying that did remind me of Mel Gibson watching a shampoo ad at home in What Women Really Want, but still…

(Update Saturday 25th: Looks like I beat ZR5.net Asian News to the ad. Doubt that will happen again - if Korean and Asian celebrities are your thing, you should definately make that blog one of your first ports of call rather than this one!)

(Update Thursday 30th: I’ve just noticed that the video is finally up on Youtube. Thanks to PopSeoul for bringing that to everyone’s attention, and for more photos)

    Dear James,
How do you study the Hanja? Do use a special book? What is the meaning of the numbers? Do you also memorize the Hanja Characters, or just the Hangeul? :)

    Flo.

    Dear Flo,

I explain everthing in the 2nd half of this post: http://thegrandnarrative.wordpress.com/2007/08/04/%ec%9e%a5%ec%8b%a0%ec%98%81-makes-me-put-my-money-where-my-mouth-is/

Just quickly though, I mention there that I do use a special book, but I DON’T learn how to write the Hanja character, I just remember the hangul (just like learning pre-, or ex-, or -er, or -ist for example to learn English vocab, instead of the original latin or greek root itself). I’d like to learn how to write Chinese, but that will take several years, and in the meantime if I have a spare hour then spending it writing 10 Hanja characters repeatedly doesn’t help my Korean whatsover!

Sorry, forgot to mention that the numbers are page numbers in that book.
