The Grand Narrative

I’m still sick, not helped by not having hot water for a week while the apartment building’s boiler gets fixed, and I really don’t want to go to work, but then I only have 3 hours of classes so I can’t complain too much really. But it’s ridiculous that, like most Koreans, I have no contract and therefore no sick days; sometimes, you’ve just got to stay in bed. I’ll mention the effects of this in my next post on drinking culture in Korea, as they’re strongly linked.

But that sounds semi-serious, whereas this post is some much needed light relief after the last herculian post on the education system. Actually, I translated this back when it came out on Monday, but having started that last post on Saturday I was damn well going to get it finished. Yes, if I’d know that post would take me 4 more days, I may well have put this one up earlier. Sorry.

Chwae Yun-gyeong’s Dazzling S-line Body is Presented in Her Second Photobook

톱 레이싱모델 최유정의 코리아 그라비아 화보 2차분이 최근 공개됐다.

Top racing model Chwae Yun-gyeong’s Korean gravure photobook has recently been released.

최유정 화보는 태국 파타야의 시원한 해변과 럭셔리 호텔에서 3일 밤낮으로 진행됐으며 비키니와 란제리 의상을 입은 그녀의 환상적인 S라인 몸매를 담고 있다.

From a luxury hotel on the refreshing coast of Pattaya in Thailand, for 3 days Chwae Yun-gyeong was photographed in a bikini and lingerie, clothes which show off her fantastic S-line body (Really? I had no idea. I’m glad Newsen cleared that up for me!)

최유정은 “조깅과 헬스로 다진 몸매를 팬들에게 보여줄 수 있어 너무 기쁘다”며 “단지 레이싱 모델이라는 이유만으로 화보를 제작했다면 응하지 않았을 것이다. 운동으로 만들어진 몸매에 자신이 있다”고 밝혔다.

According to Chwae Yun-gyeong, “My body is the result of jogging and working out, so it feels good to show it off to my fans” and “If this photobook only presented me as a race queen than I wouldn’t have done it. I’m very proud of the body I’ve gained through exercise.”

Despite this new look of hers, with her cute and refreshing body (literal translation!) Chwae Yun-gyeong remains one of the most popular race queens at Seoul Motor Show,  Busan International Motor Show, and International events. As a race queen, she has a members-only fan club of over 20,000.

Before I forget, a big thanks to nuku at http://www.nuku.de/ for mentioning the blog. Never having studied German, I didn’t know what the “Unterhaltsam” next to my blog meant, so I checked out an online dictionary, and thanks very much I guess (a google translation, in contrast, came up with the obscure “maintenance sam.”) It seems that he is doing level 4 of the TOPIK test too, so I’ll definately have to check out the blog more often; it will be fun (and useful) to communicate in Korean with him, it reminds me of some Westerners and Russians (for instance) here only being able to communicate with each other in Korean, but I’ve yet to have this experience myself. But seeing as he read the blog I’m sure his English is probably good too (and will try to restrain my jealousy of Euros’ multilingual upbringings).
